While trying to avoid making the same mistakes as his father, the Kid navigates the club scene and a rocky relationship with a captivating singer, Apollonia. But another musician, looks to steal the Kid's spotlight and his girl.

Purple Rain was an unexpected hit and grossed more than $68 million on a $7.2 million budget.

Two con artist brothers attempt to swindle a soon-to-be wealthy heiress, but things get complicated when one falls in love with her.

Prince took a lot of heat following the release of Under the Cherry Moon in 1986. Expectations were high following the success of Purple Rain just one year earlier.

Prince wanted to do something different and critics proved they weren't ready for his artistic vision.

SIGN O' THE TIMES CONCERT MOVIE (1987)

The Sign "O" the Times concert movie was released on November 20, 1987. It made $3-million at the box office. 

Most of the film was shot at Paisley Park Studios after most of the overseas tour footage was deemed unusable.

Even though the home video release was eventually certified platinum, the film had been out of print since the VHS re-issue in 1991.

Sign "O" the Times remains an undeniable work of art.

Graffiti Bridge was the unofficial sequel to pThe Kid is now a club owner and he battles it out with his rival Morris Day for the Glam Slam Nightclub.

Graffiti Bridge and Under the Cherry Moon were both ripped apart by critics.

Under the Cherry Moon was the first directorial credit for Prince.

Graffiti Bridge his first credit as writer/director.

The budget for Graffiti Bridge was $7 million but it only took in $4.6 million at the box office.
